September 2025
September on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau marks a turning point. The last days of summer give way to crisp mornings, vibrant skies, and the first hints of autumn color. It’s a season that invites reflection while also looking ahead and the same can be said of our real estate market.
Steady and Reliable
Unlike the dramatic swings of recent years, the Plateau market is showing steadiness as we move into fall. Buyers remain engaged, drawn to the beauty of the season and the chance to enjoy a mountain home before the holidays. Sellers are finding that thoughtful preparation and clear pricing attract serious interest, with quality properties continuing to move. The pace may not be hurried, but it is consistent which is a healthy sign for both sides of the transaction.
A Season to Celebrate
This fall is especially meaningful as we continue to celebrate several milestone anniversaries in our community and our firm:
• Our Firm’s 25th Anniversary – We are honored to celebrate 25 years of serving clients in Western North Carolina as part of Sotheby’s International Realty, a brand established in 1976 and built on the centuries-old foundation of Sotheby’s Auction House, founded in 1744.
• Highlands Turns 150 – Our town celebrates its sesquicentennial, a testament to the strength and character that have made Highlands a destination for generations.
• The Bascom Celebrates 40 – Our dear partners at The Bascom mark four decades of bringing art and creativity to the Plateau, enriching the cultural fabric of our community.
Looking Toward Fall
Autumn has always been one of the most vibrant seasons on the Plateau both for the landscape and for real estate. Buyers are often motivated to find a property before the year’s end and sellers benefit from the region’s natural beauty, providing a stunning backdrop for showings. With balance and stability guiding the current market, the months ahead hold promise.
As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve as your trusted resource here in the mountains. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to explore your options this fall.
